Carl Mueller, also known as Clint, a 73-year-old Houston man who had been missing since late July, has been identified as the person found deceased along the banks of Buffalo Bayou.
Houston police said officers responded at approximately 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, to the 2200 block of Nance Street, where they discovered a man’s body in an advanced state of decomposition. Investigators reported that there were no obvious signs of trauma.
The man was initially unidentified before Texas EquuSearch identified him as Mueller.
Mueller was last heard from on July 30 near the 1400 block of St. Joseph Parkway. His family became increasingly concerned after they were unable to contact him. Relatives said he had not paid his rent, picked up important medication, or attended scheduled medical appointments.
His death has left his family and friends searching for answers about what happened during the period between his disappearance and the discovery of his body.
At this time, Mueller’s cause and manner of death have not been determined. An autopsy and examination by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences are expected to provide additional information as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
Houston police continue to investigate the case and are asking anyone who may have information about Mueller’s disappearance or death to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
Carl Mueller’s death brings a painful end to a search that began when his family realized he was missing. As investigators work to determine what happened, thoughts remain with his family, friends, and everyone who had been hoping for his safe return.
May Carl Mueller be remembered with dignity, and may his loved ones find strength and answers during this difficult time.
